General Assembly Passes COVID-19 Relief Bill


To help relieve the hard working families of North Carolina and lay the foundation for economic recovery during these difficult times, the NC General Assembly passed a $1.6 Billion COVID-19 recovery bill. The legislation includes:

  • $25 million to community colleges to respond to COVID-19 impacts
  • $125 million for small business loans
  • $115 million to help rural communities and hospitals
  • $44.4 million for the UNC system to respond to COVID-19 impacts
  • $50 million for PPE (personal protective equipment) for doctors, nurses, and first responders
  • $20 million for hiring new nurses, community health and telehealth workers
  • $110 million for COVID-19 research, testing, and tracing programs
