To help relieve the hard working families of North Carolina and lay the foundation for economic recovery during these difficult times, the NC General Assembly passed a $1.6 Billion COVID-19 recovery bill. The legislation includes:
- $25 million to community colleges to respond to COVID-19 impacts
- $125 million for small business loans
- $115 million to help rural communities and hospitals
- $44.4 million for the UNC system to respond to COVID-19 impacts
- $50 million for PPE (personal protective equipment) for doctors, nurses, and first responders
- $20 million for hiring new nurses, community health and telehealth workers
- $110 million for COVID-19 research, testing, and tracing programs
